About Sponge:

Sponge classes are designed to instill a love of language and culture in children.  Dynamic, native-speaking teachers lead small classes (maximum of 10 children) with a focus on communicating in the target language.  Through games and activities, music, movement and art, we learn practical, every-day language and communication skills.  All classes are taught entirely in the target and accommodate a range of levels.  For more information on Sponge, please visit www.spongeschoolcom. 

Benefits of Early Language Learning:

Research shows that a child’s brain is primed for acquiring language.  Children master the sounds and syntax of a language in a way that’s more difficult later on.  And, there are cognitive benefits, too.  Children who know more than one language understand that language is, in effect, symbolic.  And, this understanding leads to strong verbal and analytical skills that result in higher test scores for math, social studies and even on their SATs.  Finally, there’s the openness that comes with knowing that you can communicate with someone in another language.  It’s another step toward being culturally sensitive global citizens!
