Be Safe, Be Fair, Be Kind



Please follow these rules so that everyone can be safe and have a good time, during school hours and after school, during pick-up.


Major Offenses:

  • Hurtful, physical behavior
  • Name-calling
  • Defiance to authority
  • Continuous misbehavior

Playscape Rules:

  • No running on playscape.  If caught running, students are off playscape for the rest of recess.  For students who repeatedly run on playscape, they are off playscape for the rest of the day.
  • Take turns
  • Go in one direction on the bars
  • Go down feet, first, on their bottoms, on the slide
  • No going up the slide
  • No throwing woodchips
  • No playing on playscape when it’s slippery from rain or when icy
  • No jumping off the playscape structures (e.g. slide)

Playground Boundaries:

  • Play between fenced areas and yellow lines marked on blacktop
  • Must ask permission from an adult to leave the school grounds, recover a ball, use the girls’ bathroom, etc.
  • No sitting, climbing on the steps
  • No going behind the portables
  • No playing, hanging out in the bathrooms
  • Once outside, students stay outside

Appropriate Behavior:

  • Take turns
  • Behave cooperatively
  • Speak respectfully
  • Inappropriate language (swearing, put-downs, verbal abuse) will not be tolerated
  • No eating, drinking, chewing gum
  • All games are open
  • If you bring balls, equipment from home, all students can play in the game
  • Take it a vote if you can’t settle it
  • No grabbing balls
  • When picking teams, line up on the fence, no changing place, and count off 1, 2, 1, 2

Basketball:

  • No “Make-it, take-it” while playing basketball
  • No shoving, pushing
